Alexis Bester is an artist from the Western Cape in South Africa. He lives near Tulbagh at the foot of the Witzenberg Mountains on his family's farm where he also has his own studio. He began painting seriously in 2001 on his Angels series, "When Angels make Music". After 5 months in America in 2003 he started on his current series of landscape paintings. These oil paintings portray the Western Cape landscapes and seascapes with a touch of surrealism using the bright and rich colours of his African environment and culture.
